Philosophy

The first rule for our coaches is to be individuals of high character. When it comes to hiring a coach, I believe that you can always teach a coach how to coach, but you can’t change who they are as a person. Ideally, we will develop our coaches through, but not limited to the following

As we grow as a program, coaches will have as much impact on the success of the program as any player.  As we surround our program with high character individuals, this will have an impact on our student athletes as they grow into young adults.  When bringing in assistant coaches, I hope to have a mix of young and experienced coaches who all have something to bring to the table.  The first step I will take towards this in this program will be talking with every coach currently on staff to see how they fit in our program moving forward.

Expectations

In regards to the three levels in our program, I would like to have a full staff of 8 assistant coaches for varsity/JV with at least 3-4 coaches for the freshmen program.  Each coach is expected to abide by our philosophy of bettering themselves so that it is reflected for the players. If a coach is not a varsity level coordinator, it is expected that they would attend every JV game to help coach up those players in game situations.  Coaches will each be responsible for one position while also being an assistant for another.

Development

To develop staff, there will be a couple of small off season expectations. First, I will meet with each coach twice in the off season to check in on family, work, etc. The goal of each of these meetings is to avoid football conversation as much as possible and focus on the coach as an individual.  Secondly, coordinators will utilize the resources on Glazier Drive and X’s and O’s labs and find a couple resources for coaches to review on their own time to generate conversation and find ways to adjust what we do as a program.
